Types of Almonds Oils

Let’s clear up the types of almond oils available and the ones you should be using. There are two types of almond oil: Sweet and Bitter. The ones we’ll be discussing in our article for hair and skin is sweet almond oil. The name says it all, bitter almond oil is extracted from bitter almonds and is essentially used in aromatherapy for its strong scent. It makes for a great essential oil; however, bitter almond oil contains toxic substances, which is why they’ve been discontinued from consumption. Even though it does not provide a lot of nutritional value, bitter almond oil, due to its anti-bacterial, anti-carcinogenic, and anesthetic properties, has been used for medicinal purposes. Sweet almond oil comes from the almonds we like to munch on. They have a lot of nutritional values and can be used extensively in your diet and for your hair and skin care. You can find them anywhere in your local grocery store or supermarkets. Sweet almond benefits for skin and hair mostly lie in the presence of essential vitamins and Omega fatty acids. • Almond and Honey Scrub

This one is my mum’s and my personal favorite. We’d use this scrub every weekend or on those really special occasions like a wedding or a party. You must’ve come across lots of honey and almond scrubs in stores, but there’s nothing quite like the homemade scrub to get you excited plus, it’s fresh!

Soak up a handful of almonds overnight and peel off its skin in the morning. Grind this up real good into a paste. Mix 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of coconut milk with the paste. If you don’t have coconut milk available, try coconut oil or olive oil. Olive oil good for constipation, and it helps lock in moisture, strengthen your hair, and promote its growth. Give it a good mix before gently using this scrub anywhere on your skin. You can use it to scrub your body and even your face. Scrubbing with almond and honey paste will exfoliate your skin, get rid of the dirt and dead skin, and leave your skin looking soft, smooth, and the Vitamin E in almonds will give your skin a healthy glow.

  • Almond and Fuller’s Earth Clay Mask

If you’re someone like me who has extremely oily skin or who’s prone to acne, you will love this mask. Ground almonds release antioxidants and Vitamin E that can help with soothing inflammation from acne and will leave your skin looking and feeling moisturised. Fuller’s Earth Clay is a great oil absorber, removes dead skin, gives your skin a healthy glow, and fights against acne and pimples. Soak up a handful of almonds and grind it up into a paste. Mix the paste with 3 tablespoons of Fuller’s Earth Clay and add in a tablespoon of rosewater. To make a paste, add a few drops of water so that it isn’t too dry or hoarse. Leave this paste on your skin for 20 minutes and then wash it off. The rose water in the paste will soothe your skin and maintain the pH balance of your skin. I use this mask at least 2 times a week cause I have incredibly oily skin and an issue with acne. Give it a try, and you’ll love it!
